A UBC student who helped make The Corporation an international hit film has produced a powerful documentary that will premiere at next week’s Sundance Film Festival.

The feature-length movie, When I Walk, is one of five Canadian films showing at Sundance 2013. It tells the story of filmmaker and artist Jason DaSilva (director), who finds out he has a severe form of multiple sclerosis at the age of 25.

The film shares DaSilva’s personal and grueling journey over the next seven years, in several cities, including Vancouver and New York. Along the way, an unlikely miracle changes everything.

Cari Green, a MFA student in UBC’s Film Production program, served as associate producer for the film. Green is an award-winning film and television producer with more than twenty-five years experience in the industry. She has produced or co-produced the works of renowned filmmakers, including The Corporation, one of Canada’s best known documentaries, which focused on the rise and nature of corporations.

Green is currently completing her MFA in film production at UBC. Her thesis film is a drama about the mistreatment of gays in the military. She has taught at the Vancouver Film School since 2006 and served on many executive and board positions, including with Hot Docs and DOXA.

The Sundance Film Festival runs from Jan. 17-27 in Park City, Utah.
